Oil on cotton 76x61cm. 2007
This piece contains many of the elements already described in other pictures from this exhibition; we see a complete column and the remains of a destroyed one. An arched doorway describes a triumph of building achievement and the wrecked gable wall of a church or habitation its opposite. These are arranged at the two sides. Internally, the upper panel is inhabited by a group of people moving towards us. (Onward) Below, in darker colours, also moving onward, but the impression gained is altogether more sinister. Working together, people can become co operative and altruistic, or unfortunately, threatening and destructive.
